Norwich Theatre Royal Open Day

Norwich Theatre Royal Open Day

Ever fancied taking a look behind the curtain at Norwich Theatre Royal?? Then don’t miss your opportunity for 2014! The theatre is lifting the curtain on its secrets on Saturday, August 23rd, from 10am to 4pm, the open day that has “access to all areas”.

Visitors can partake in special tours that will guide them to the backstage parts of the building which are normally closed to the public, including the stars dressing-rooms; you’ll be thrilled to take a peek behind the scenes of one of Norwich’s most iconic attractions. Have a little role play and even step out onto the stage – and see what it looks like to look out into the auditorium as generations of top performers have done before them. There are also be lots of other attractions including the chance to take part in interactive activities on stage, face-painting for the children, and a host of games, plus the chance to find out about spotlights, sound effects and costumes.

There will be tours and talks on the history of the theatre, a dip into past pantomimes, tempting ice cream and chocolate tastings and some giveaway freebies, as well as biscuit or cake decorating. And visitors can find out about the valuable education work the theatre does, how it goes about providing services such as sign-language, captioning and audio descriptions for hearing and visually impaired theatre-goers, and how hard it works to be a green and eco-friendly venue.

A bucket load of activities, talks and demonstrations. Open to all and ideal for families.

The Open Day runs from 10am until 4pm – and entry is free for all ages.norwich-norfolk-theatre-royal
