CelebrateThe Wedding of Mr and Mrs Markwood
We were lucky enough to receive this amazing review following the wedding day of Danielle and Vincent with us in July 2019.
We loved every minute of our wedding day at Park Farm Hotel. The venue is fantastic and every member of staff is so helpful.
We got engaged Christmas 2017 and viewed about 10 venues over the next few weeks – we both knew Park Farm was the place for us when we visited, even though it was a cold January morning. Booking an appointment to view the place was straightforward, it’s easy to find, and when we went for a look around we felt very at ease with Sue. She showed us brochures of the wedding packages and food options, listed which dates were available around our desired timeframe, and we had a lovely chat in the bar area over a pot of tea. There was no hard sales pitch at all, it was all very informative but relaxed.
In the 18 months between booking the venue and holding the wedding, Sue and her team responded quickly to our emails with clear, friendly answers, and all our vendors had worked at Park Farm before so knew who to contact.
Three days before the wedding we both went to visit Sue in person to go over all the details and bring everything that would be needed on the day, e.g. favours, candy station, easel, etc. This made us feel really at ease and we were safe in the knowledge that all our hard work in planning everything would pay off because Sue would take care of it all on the day, and that’s exactly what happened! Basically everything was so well organised that we just turned up and had an amazing day.
Lots of family and friends stayed at the hotel for the weekend and everyone loved it: the spa, delicious breakfast, lovely grounds, the bar, etc.
It did rain from about 12pm-4pm, with the ceremony at 2pm, so we were unlucky not to be able to take photos outside immediately after the ceremony. This doesn’t phase those at Park Farm though, within 10 minutes they’d turned the ceremony room around whilst the guests were gathered in the bar and we were able to have wine and canapés back in the conservatory, dashing into the garden for photos when there was a break in the drizzle. We did speeches before the meal, and crept out with our photographer Ryan for some bridal couple photos before the starters were served as the rain had stopped. The vegetable patch is actually a lovely area for some intimate photos, you’d be surprised.
The meal was absolutely fantastic. We’d chosen 2 starters, 3 mains and 2 desserts that our guests had all selected from in advance. It’s all hands on deck when the meals are brought out, so you’ve not got some tables finished before others have even received their meal. The wait staff were all friendly and there was plenty of delicious hot food. Wine is served by the glass to those who want it, rather than leaving full bottles on the table, and soft drinks were available for those not wanting wine.
Toastmaster Nick stayed until after the meal and did a good job of herding everyone to the front of the hotel for a big group photo. Nick didn’t interfere like we’ve seen other toastmasters do, and it was very handy to have someone to announce to guests what to expect next.
Evening guests arrived at 7:30 and also had an amazing time. DJ Craig was recommended by Park Farm and he was great. We met him in person 3 days before the wedding and he confirmed that he had all the songs we’d requested, and wanted to check how we wanted the first dance to go, i.e. when to invite guests into the floor. For us it was pretty quick, he just waited for a wave from us and then kept the tunes going til midnight.
We had casino tables and a candy station for the evening, we provided the candy and jars and someone from Park Farm laid it all out for us for guests to help themselves. The casino company didn’t need to go through us to talk to Park Farm, they contacted them directly for logistics and just checked timings with us.
We really recommend Park Farm for anyone looking for an inclusive package. Planning a wedding is hard and it helps to have someone knowledgeable and friendly to organise most of it for you. This really was a fantastic package and everything we wanted. Sue helped us personalise our day to make sure that it was just right. There was a wedding fair in the November at Park Farm where we were able to meet some of the vendors who partner with them, e.g. florist and chair provider, but even if we hadn’t gone to that we’d still have had complete faith in Sue and her team that everything would be high quality.
To summarise, Park Farm Hotel was perfect for us and our guests!

What Our Customers Say
“My husband and I don’t get to go away just the 2 of us very often so I always try and find someone nice when we do have the opportunity. This place didn’t disappoint! The receptionist was friendly and my husband commented to me that she seemed happy to be there and like she really enjoyed her job which must be a good testament to the place! We were upgraded to a boutique suite which was a pleasant surprise and the suite we had was perfect. As soon as we opened the door the smell was lovely and the 2 complimentary bars of local chocolate was a lovely touch as was the complimentary wash bag. We made use of the leisure facilities and stayed relaxing for about 2.5 hours. The bed was very comfortable and the room stayed dark during the night. Breakfast was good with a wide selection of options. We definitely hope to return one day.”
